For the past few weeks I have been using the pre-release version of Firefox 3.5. This morning, the final release of Firefox 3.5 came out. If it is anything like the pre-release, it should be an excellent browser. It doesn’t crash all the time anymore (mainly when using Flash), it runs JavaScript a little bit better (but not like Safari 4 does), and there are plenty of features. If you are already a Firefox user or have never tried Firefox, you have to get Firefox 3.5. It is worth the time and space to use it.

The other day I was testing out an IRCd software called InspIRCd. I was told about it from a friend of mine, Jared. I am used to compiling and managing UnrealIRCd, which I have talked about in a previous post. It is definitely a lot different then Unreal, but in a good way. It runs great, its stable, and it doesn’t hog up to much CPU or Memory. However, if you are really used to UnrealIRCd, I suggest you stick with it. If your are still kind of new to all of it, try both of them out.

For years now I have been using a website called GameSpot to get all of the latest news, reviews, and videos about video games. Just over a year ago, I finally joined as a total access member. The site is basically a game news site where they post everything about video games on any platform. They provide live shows, coverage of E3, Reviews, Game Guides and much more. I highly encourage you use GameSpot for your latest news. There is a free account you can get, but for only $3.33 a month, you can get full access to complete game guides, HD videos, and many other benefits throughout the site. The site can be found at http://www.gamespot.com.

Not all servers use Windows Server or a Linux Distro, instead they may use FreeBSD. I recently got some space for an IRCd on a server with FreeBSD. I never really used FreeBSD at all until now, but I have nothing but good things to say about it. It is the most stable, fast, and reliable OS I have ever used. Since I am running an IRCd on it, it pretty much has to be stable. If you are looking to run a web server or an IRCd, I strongly recommend using FreeBSD.

On Monday, the day of the WWDC Keynote, Apple took Safari 4 out of beta. I like using Safari, but not as much as I like FireFox. However, I still use Safari constantly. The new Safari includes an extremely fast JavaScript engine, Top Sites, and some new looks. It is definitely changed since Safari 3 and it is really fast. I strongly recommend getting it now if you haven’t already. I am very impressed with how good, fast, and stable this browser is. Most of you know, Flash has the tendency to crash mainly Safari, but I haven’t had it crash yet, so that is a really good sign. Anyway, just try it. It is for Mac or Windows and it runs great on both.

A few weeks ago when I bought Counter Strike: Source, I also bought a game called Team Fortress 2. This game plays a little similar to Counter Strike: Source, but the game itself, to me at least, is a little strange. Its not the general “shooter” game you would expect, but it is definitely entertaining and fun to play. Basically, you can choose your character to be a Pyro, a Heavy Gunner, Sniper, Medic, and and a few other ones. The maps you play on are not really regular shooter maps, but they are usually “3D like” worlds. Again, like Counter Strike: Source, Team Fortress 2 is a multiplayer only game to play on servers around the world.

Just recently, I have gotten more into first person shooters than I ever have before. This is one out of the three games I bought. Now, I have to say, out of all of the games I got, Call of Duty 4 is my absolute favorite and I play it a lot. However, Counter Strike: Source is my second favorite. This games graphics is not as good as Call of Duty 4, but the game play is as good as Call of Duty 4. Since Counter Strike: Source is only an online game, it has a bigger community than Call of Duty 4 which allows you to play it more. I can’t say it is my favorite game, but it is a game that everyone should at least play once or start out on.

Last night, me and some friends went to go see the movie, Ghost of Girlfriends Past. It looked funny and good when I first saw the trailer. The movie was really good and funny, but at some parts, were really sad. As much as I don’t want to admit it, I cried. All in all, it is a good story line, great acting, and a movie you have to see. If you are going to see it, try to see it by yourself or with friends because some of the parts in the movie are very awkward to see with a family member.

About a week ago, I came across a website called Dropbox and it really fits my needs. Basically it is a website where you can backup all your files either by uploading them from a browser or using the client where it auto uploads them. Its really nice because you can start out with 2 gigs of space and pay absolutely nothing! Plus, you can get up to 3 gigs of space if you continue to invite friends. This is a good application to use because it is cheap and has excellent service. Backup is always important, so when you do your backups, use Dropbox.
